Preserving traditional Sephardic music and culture and fusing it with contemporary Western influences like rock, funk, jazz, and blues, is a personal mission for spirited Sarah Aroeste. Ladino, the language of her family, gracefully emerges through the voice and heart of this vibrant singer, with the accompaniment of world class band members Yoel Ben-Simhon, Hicham Chami, Alan Cohen, Emannuel Mann, Carlos Revollar, Bridget Robbins, Vin Scialla, and Yousif Sheronick. Traditional Ladino songs from across the Mediterranean  come alive in this rhythmic feast. The exotic sounds of the oud, qanun, nay, and darbuka meld with piano, electric and classical guitar, bass, drums and percussion, creating a tantalizing blend of old and new. Caution: alluring and exotic rhythms may inspire dancing and swaying with reckless abandon!

In collaboration with The Village Temple in New York City, this release from The Gerard Edery Ensemble is an offering of spiritual songs from Morocco, Persia, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Spain and Portugal, as well as original songs based on sacred texts. The 12 selections are sung in English, Hebrew, Ladino and Arabic, and the CD liner notes include full lyrics and translations.
