Another well-crafted choral work by the talented Elaine Broad-Ginsberg of several of the Chanukah melodies and texts that we all love. Elaine is one of our most prolific and gifted composers, and boasts a long list of awards for her work.
For solo, SATB, and keyboard.
When a song becomes one of the most popular of a woman who has more popular songs than any other composer in her genre, it’s got to be published for choir. The message of unity and peace here certainly resonates with the Jewish people, but transcends all and works for any choir, any skill level, any age, any performance, any occasion. This very accessible setting keeps the lively spirit and gospel feel of the song intact, and we defy any audience member not to hum it as they leave the venue it was performed in.
For SATB, solo, tof, and guitar (with rehearsal keyboard).
This is a recently revised edition of this now-classic choral work by Benjie Ellen Schiller, a cantor who serves on the faculty of HUC-JIR. By popular request, this new edition of one of our most popular choral pieces is now available in the lower key of D major. There is an optional tof part, and chord symbols for guitar (or other instrument) are included, as well as a guitar/tof score in the back of the publication. With its changing meters and “Eastern” flavor, this piece is exciting but not difficult to learn.
An orchestral accompaniment is available for rental (972082). If doing the piece with orchestra, be sure to call 212-650-4101 and request the choral parts in the original key of E major.
This arrangement of the now-famous Yair Rosenblum melody is fully realized for SATB with some divisi, and even includes optional “rhythm section” directives.
A film documentary about this piece can be found at www.makomisrael.org.
