According to author Tina Wasserman, her new book Entree to Judaism for Families: Jewish Cooking and Kitchen Conversations with Children gives "parents and grandparents the opportunity to spend time with children and give them skills and confidence through cooking, while sharing the vibrant history of their families and the Jewish people as told through food."

Entree to Judaism for Families follows Tina's best selling cookbook Entree to Judaism: A Culinary Exploration of the Jewish Diaspora, which lead readers on a journey to sample the food and stories of Jewish communities around the world and across the ages.

Entree to Judaism for Families provides the essential tools for helping children learn to cook with confidence, with clear, step-by-step instructions for every recipe and tips for adults to make the experience safe and rewarding. Every recipe is also a story, and Entree to Judaism for Families provides opportunities to share those stories, by learning the rich history of the communities that created the food, and sharing that food with your own family.

Entree to Judaism for Families features:
    • "Kitchen Conversations" — conversations starters and activity suggestions to help families connect to Jewish history and each other
    • Beautiful photographs of every recipe in the book
    • Dozens of recipes for holidays or any day
    • Historical background for the recipes and the communities that created them
    • "Tina’s Tidbits" with tips for cooking with children and other suggestions for making the recipes your own

    Shabbat Angels, The

Something is not right in the home of Chaim Yonkel and his wife, Esther. Usually their home is filled with the smells of delicious foods, the sounds of laughing children, and happy smiles on everyone's faces. But this Shabbat finds the family fighting, Shabbat dinner unprepared, and the house a mess.

The Talmud tells the story of two angels, Tov and Rah. According to this legend, these angels follow each person home from synagogue on Shabbat and deliver a blessing. If Shabbat is being honored and the home is filled with Shabbat peace, the angel of good, Tov, gets to deliver the blessing that every Shabbat should be like this one. However, if Shabbat is not being honored, the angel of evil, Rah, gets to deliver the blessing, turning the same words into a curse.

This contemporary version of the talmudic tale, illustrated with breathtaking illustrations by Joani Keller Rothenberg, updates the story for today's families. The Shabbat Angels will delight the whole family while it teaches the importance of Shabbat shalom, Shabbat peace.
