Michael Hunter Ochs + Daniel Leanse = a winning combination!!! Together they form GESHER, a bridge between Shabbat liturgical texts and modern musical styles. Ochs, multi-platinum selling, award winning composer, whose songs have appeared on nearly 10 million albums worldwide and been featured in many television programs and major motion pictures including last year?s Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants and the national campaign for the Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks film The Terminal now brings his expertise in the secular music world to the realm of Jewish music. Ochs and songwriter/cantorial soloist, Leanse, crossed paths at Congregation Micah in Brentwood, TN, a meeting that has provided both with endless joy and inspiration. Their collaboration produced these 11 beautiful Hebrew and English selections that include L?cha Dodi, Candle Blessing, Bar?chu, Sh?ma, Mi Chamocha, V?shamru, R?tzei, Shalom Rav, Yih?yu L?ratzon, Va-anachnu, and Oseh Shalom. Leanse?s strong vocals are accompanied by guest performances from some of the most accomplished musicians and vocalists in the country. This mixture of soft, pretty ballads and catchy rhythmic melodies is intended to ??enrich your prayers, lift your spirits and in some small way, bring you closer to God.?

By turns quietly peaceful and then joyfully dramatic, this beautifully sung and accompanied collection brings a lovely contemporary touch to traditional Sabbath songs.

Shabbat Angels, The

Something is not right in the home of Chaim Yonkel and his wife, Esther. Usually their home is filled with the smells of delicious foods, the sounds of laughing children, and happy smiles on everyone's faces. But this Shabbat finds the family fighting, Shabbat dinner unprepared, and the house a mess.

The Talmud tells the story of two angels, Tov and Rah. According to this legend, these angels follow each person home from synagogue on Shabbat and deliver a blessing. If Shabbat is being honored and the home is filled with Shabbat peace, the angel of good, Tov, gets to deliver the blessing that every Shabbat should be like this one. However, if Shabbat is not being honored, the angel of evil, Rah, gets to deliver the blessing, turning the same words into a curse.

This contemporary version of the talmudic tale, illustrated with breathtaking illustrations by Joani Keller Rothenberg, updates the story for today's families. The Shabbat Angels will delight the whole family while it teaches the importance of Shabbat shalom, Shabbat peace.
